what a cool thing to do… before I came to this h*** of a school place I was pulling upwards of 1000 pics a month! Not all of them stellar of course, but I was taking them… now… I think I’ve taken 1000 in the last year… or 3…

This looks great. But, you took this with an f-stop of 1.8. So why does it look like his whole face (and a lot of his head) is reasonably well in focus? Is it just because you were shooting at 50mm and were standing pretty far away?

Yep, I desaturate to get b&w. (In this photo I also adjusted the curves a tad to improve the contrast.)
