I took the kids on a hike to the base of the damn on our creek. And by that, I mean, I carried both kids along the path to the base of the damn. Thank goodness for my new mei tai. Carrie rules.

More ghetto summer fun. I found this pool at Dollar General. It’s 6 ft in diameter. Which is really cool because that means I can lay down in it. Heaven.

My little monkey. I have been making an effort to use my camera on the completely manual setting, but sometimes I forget to check to make sure the shutter speed is right (I had been shooting in aperture priority mode and letting the camera figure out the shutter speed). So I screwed up this picture. Which stinks because I really like it. Here’s my best photoshop GIMP effort. I think it’s passable, though obviously very edited.

There is a little amusement park at the beach by our house. It has a carousel and half a dozen vintage kiddie rides. All rides are only 25 cents. I love it. So do the kids.
On a photography related note, this picture is straight out of the camera. It’s really hard to see the exposure meter thing in my camera when it’s sunny outside like it was today. I kind of guessed and ended up with this. I can’t figure out if it’s overexposed or not. But I guess that doesn’t really matter because I like it.

Summer fun. Except I can’t seem to bring myself to use water just for fun, so I had to water the garden at the same time. She still got plenty wet, I promise.

We ditched the kids and went canoing. I was quite excited that we were actually doing something picture worthy. But when I got my old P&S camera (because you’re crazy if you think I’d bring the good camera into a wobbly boat) out to take some pictures, I discovered that the batteries were dead. So all I could do was take a picture of the canoe once we got back home.
